Amr Aref

Amr is a financial communications consultant with over 18 years of experience in investor relations, financial journalism, and corporate and investment banking. He is a Consulting Partner with Pivot Advisory and is the founder of Blackstrokes Inc, a boutique financial communications consultancy.

Prior to founding Blackstrokes, Amr served a nine-year stint at Enterprise Advisory (2014-2022) – previously Inktank Communications – during which he held several roles, including Co-Head of the firm’s investor relations department. In that capacity, Amr led and managed a team of over 25 IR professionals to support the needs of MENA, frontier, and emerging markets clients whose shares trade on the London Stock Exchange, the Egyptian Stock Exchange, the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul), and the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange. 

Prior to joining Inktank, Amr was a financial journalist at Business Today magazine (2011-2014), during which he was the main correspondent on Egypt’s economic affairs and regularly researched, dissected, and analyzed the country’s business, economic and political fabric to write compelling news and opinion pieces. Amr began his career at the Arab African International Bank (2006-2009) with the Corporate Banking department and later moved to the bank’s Investment Banking division. He was responsible for managing and underwriting large-ticket debt syndications, extending advisory on M&A transactions, and helped develop a system for managing the division’s margin lending portfolio. 

Amr graduated from the American University in Cairo in 2006 with a Bachelor in Accountancy.
